Mission Kids – Washington Street Mission

Kids have always been an important part of the ministry of the Washington St. Mission. We have programming for our children during the months of June and July. We also occasionally have opportunities on Monday holidays like Columbus Day. These sessions are during our normal mission hours and are led by Ashly and Sarah. The kids explore basic Bible stories, are introduced to life skills, encouraged to improve their reading, create crafts and more.

Summers at the Mission

The kids have so much fun each summer learning life skills, going on field trips, reading, and studying the Bible. We learn how to keep our hearts healthy with good diet and exercise, prepare healthy snacks and meals for themselves and their families, and even prepare first aid kits for people who visit Washington Street Mission.  We had a blast going to the downtown farmers market, visiting a garden, going to the Illinois State Museum, the YMCA, and eating breakfast at Cafe Moxo.  Some of the kids also worked very hard to earn a free book from Barnes and Noble by reading and recording 8 books with us.   One of our favorite memory verses is the Golden Rule: “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.” (Luke 6:31).
