Homelessness is one of the most complex issues facing our community. Unemployment, housing displacement, physical and mental disabilities, addiction to alcohol and narcotics, and domestic violence are just some of the factors attributing to a growing number of individuals experiencing homelessness.
At Washington Street Mission, we understand that the path towards stability is different for each person and work with each community member to find their path forward.
Life Recovery Program
The Life Recovery Program offers comprehensive case management and supports for those experiencing homelessness and/or suffering from mental health and substance abuse disorders. Case workers and staff work one-on-one with participants to develop a plan and coordinate supportive services.
The Life Recovery Program focuses on aligning shelter, housing, treatment and rehabilitation services, and work skills development to help participants gain long term financial stability. Through a combination of aligning core services with structured life skills, money management, counseling, and spiritual guidance, participants receive the long term supports needed to achieve their personal goals.

Supportive Employment Program
The Supportive Employment Program is a 3-month program providing part-time employment and job coaching to individuals re-entering the work force.
Individuals in the program are provided part-time employment in a job tailored to their skill level. During the period of employment, participants work with a volunteer job coach who works with the participant to develop employment skills and a transition plan for re-entering the workforce. The job coach works with the participant to apply and obtain employment prior to the end of the 3-month program.

Volunteer to Work Program
The Volunteer to Work Program is a 30-day training and mentoring program for individuals ready to re-enter the workforce.
Participants volunteer at the mission for a 30-day period. During this time, an assigned staff member provides real-time training, on-the-job skills development, time management skills and supervision.
Upon successful program completion, participants are connected with a local employer and receive a letter of recommendation.
